Green Iowa AmeriCorps has several high school students serving across the state of Iowa, and Caroline Mascardo has interviewed and put together profiles for all 7 Members. Today, they would like to introduce Unique Oddoye, a Sustainable Schools Member serving with the WasteTrac facility in Cedar Falls, Iowa.
Unique Oddoye will serve at the Sustainable Schools WasteTrac site before beginning her senior year at Waterloo East High School this fall. She heard about the program from her school guidance counselor last school year, and she thought it would be a great chance to give back to the Waterloo area.
“I applied to Green Iowa AmeriCorps because I thought it would be a good opportunity for me to get out and work in my community,” Unique said.
Although she plans to pursue a career in the banking industry, Unique hopes to make her actions and work with WasteTrac more environmentally friendly.
“What I am looking forward to the most while serving this summer is meeting new people and gaining awareness of how I can keep the environment sustainable,” she said.
